On behalf of the KIAA Board of Directors, by Jean Deatrick For those not on the Hidden Beach committee list — good news!  See below. Hello Everyone: It’s hard to believe that school is back in session!  I thought this would be a good opportunity to provide a quick update, from the Park Police perspective, on East Cedar Beach. From May 1, 2014 to August 25, 2014, there were 113 police reports written at East Cedar Beach.  During the same time frame this year, 56 reports have been written.  That is slightly more than a 50% reduction!  Using KIAA funds, Park Police have, so far, deployed about 100 extra hours of police patrols at the beach this summer.  In addition, we continue to schedule on-duty park patrol agents between 3pm – 11pm daily. As the school year begins, it’s important to stay vigilant.  Kids will reconnect with friends and there will likely be some weekend parties.  Please call 911 at the first signs of any late night activity. Finally, thanks to you all for your commitment and partnership in making East Cedar Beach a more welcoming place.  Positive activities make all the difference. Warm regards, Chief Jason Ohotto MINNEAPOLIS PARK POLICE DEPARTMENT Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board 2117 West River Road N | Minneapolis, MN 55411 | 612-230-6564 |[email protected]
