Kenwood Neighborhood News Update October 17, 2015

Thrill Kenwood takes place this coming weekend, next Saturday, October 24, from 3-6pm with the Thriller dance at 5pm.

Back for a 7th year, Thrill Kenwood will kick off your Halloween week, giving lakes area residents young and old the chance to participate in the Crazy Monkey world-wide simultaneous dance of Michael Jackson’s Thriller right in the heart of downtown Kenwood. This year the event partners up with Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Center for a fun family Halloween Block Party with lots of hands-on activities and spooky surprises.

Sponsored by beARTrageous, with support from the Kenwood Isles Area Association, and the Lowry Hill Neighborhood Association and local businesses, Thrill Kenwood is the ultimate Halloween-Style Block Party. Put on your best Halloween costume, zombies preferred, and join friends and neighbors for an afternoon of fun.

Proceeds will benefit local non-profit, The Bridge for Youth, an emergency shelter for 10-17 year old youth.

Activities include hands on halloween fun, a Creation Station and Zombie Make Over Station hosted by ARTrageous, The Big Epic Show, cookies & hot cider brought to you by The Kenwood Restaurant, and Spooky storytelling hosted by Birchbark Books. You may also catch a glimpse of some amazing performing strollers to entertain you on the corner of Penn & 21st.

The highlight of the festival is a flash mob dance performance performed on the Kenwood School playground. Need to learn the dance steps? Kenwood Rec Center is offering three different opportunities. Bring your friends and family to free classes at Kenwood Rec Center on Tuesday, October 20th from 6:30-8pm and Friday, October 23 from 7-8:30pm.
